From Jessica Turner's blog
Every year, Ali Edwards encourages her readers to select a word to be their mantra for the year. Here is what she has to say: Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2009?It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought or a feeling or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother's word or your spouse's word or your child's word - this is YOUR word.
One little word can have big meaning in your life if you allow yourself to be open to the possibilities. And here's one thing that is totally interesting: sometimes a word will pop into your brain and it will not make any sense to you right now. Give it some time. Let it percolate a bit. I have often found that our hearts speak to us in very unique ways. Maybe this is a word you need to hear but just aren't ready for it yet. Again, be open to the possibilities.
Immediately I knew what word I would choose. Healing. It's been a long year and a lot has happened in my life. I don't know if you have ever struggled through something with very little people knowing. It is hard because you feel like you have no one to talk to. There are many things I would like healed this year.
- I need my relationship with God healed and restored. I have been off the path for some time now and putting on a facade.
- I would like my emotional struggle to be healed.
- I want healing in my relationships with others.
- Lastly, I need healing with my personal struggle.
I'm never one to have new year's resolutions. I guess in a way this would be resolutions for the new year because I want to work on these things. The most important thing is to work on my relationship with God because everything else will become easier to overcome once that relationship is restored.
Refer to Lynn for a cute New Years twist on a familiar poem.
Please continue to pray for my grandma. She was moved to hospice care on Christmas Eve. This has been a rough time for my family, especially my mom. This has all happened so fast and still doesn't seem all real.

I am so thankful that we have a God that loves us so much that He just accepts us where we are. He never changes, He never moves. We are the ones that change. I know His heart is just swelled up knowing that you want to be closer to Him this year. If you have never read Hinds Feet On High Places it is a great allegory and was the instrument that God used to heal me in a very difficult place in my life way back in my 20's. Just know that He loves you more than you can imagine and wants nothing but the best for you. I will be praying for you and will be anticipating great things for you in 2009!! Saying prayers for a peaceful passing for your grandmother and peace and comfort for your mom and all of you.
Please remember I am always praying for you. I am so thankful God gave you to me.
Love,
Mom
