It really is a sad thing that my life (and so many others) is totally revolved around the Internet. It's amazing how people actually used to live without the Internet and all the technology we have these days. Even I did it as a child...and some children have started their addiction to technology early.
Our wireless Internet has not been working for quite some time in our apartment but we've been able to log onto an unsecured network so we didn't bother with it so much. This weekend the unsecured network stopped working too and the guys didn't come out until yesterday to fix everything. I spent Sunday night with no Internet and I could have just died. I was so bored and had nothing to do! I ended up talking on the phone to a dear friend instead.
My normal morning before I take on the day with the kids is sitting on the computer reading blogs. In fact, I do that at night too. Monday morning, the Internet still wasn't working so after shipping out some textbooks to someone who bought them from me and selling the rest to Voertman's for pennies, I went to Starbucks to get on the Internet. What I failed to realize is that you had to have an AT&T account or buy a gift card in order to get the Internet service. I ended up getting the $5 gift card which I wish I would have done before I bought my $4 caramel frappuccino. Yes, this is how desperate I was! So I registered it and all that fun stuff and sat in Starbucks enjoying my now $9 frappuccino next to a man with stinky arm pits and making small talk. It was nice to get out of the house for once. I just didn't like the fact that I had to pay to do it!
So then, last night I was once again without Internet but the night was filled with watching the Bachelorette and hanging with a friend...so I survived. I found out that the guy had come and said the Internet should work but it still wasn't working! I gave up.
This morning I had a brilliant idea to plug directly into the Internet. Imagine that! So, I read blogs and checked emails and all that fun stuff. I carried on with the rest of my day.
In the middle of the day I realized that if I reconfigured the wireless it just might work again. So here I am, the genius...using wireless Internet and watching the Yankees murder the Rangers.
My life is complete again.

And to think I got along with life not having even HEARD the word "internet" until I had graduated from college.
