Babywearing

I first heard this term, babywearing, from MckMama's blog a while back. She's been babywearing since the beginning of time (or at least since her first son was born four years ago). Even her two-year-old daughter has begun to carry her own baby dolls in a child-sized sling.

I was at the mall today before seeing a movie with a friend when I saw a man with his two young daughters walking about. I was surprised to see that he was "wearing" his baby in a sling. It's just not something you see every day. I thought it was very sweet. What surprised me the most as he walked by, another man said "Oh, do those things work well? I've been thinking about getting one of those."

I just thought it was cute and was worth sharing.

That reminds me. There is this couple in Denton who wear their baby in a sling while riding a bike around town. I've seen both the man and woman carrying their baby in a sling on several occasions. Over the last year I've seen the baby grow which has been fun to watch. I haven't seen them lately. I wonder if they're still toting the child around in a sling or if they've moved on to a child seat.

I just might become a babywearer myself when I have my own children.
