Looking Dumb

There are certain things that we do all the time that are just second nature, but when they go wrong we feel like a complete idiot.

That happened to be today while at the gas station. Normally it's a cinch to put in my card, put in the PIN and pump away. Little did I know the screen was going to fail on me.

"Please insert your card"

Okay...now what? A couple seconds pass that seemed like an eternity...

"Please enter your PIN"

Okay...
Nothing...

Maybe I should just put the pump in and select my fuel type with out it telling me to?

Nothing happens...
Cancel transaction.
Repeat...

As I cancel the transaction for the 3rd time, it asks "Do you want a reciept?"

No, I didn't do anything.

I finally gave up in shame and went to another pump worrying that people are looking at me thinking that I don't know how to pump my own gas. Maybe they think I'm from New Jersey or something.

When I got home I looked online at my bank account.
It charged me $1 and then credited me $1.

Those gas stations are a pain.
